Jenny in the News

Jenny Mayher will host a campaign launch event for Maine House District 46 on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 3:00–4:30 p.m. at the Peace Gallery at 112 Main Street in downtown Damariscotta. The public is invited.
A Democrat and longtime Midcoast resident, Mayher currently serves as Director of Communications at Lincoln Academy. She previously worked as a children’s librarian at Skidompha Library and helped lead a successful grassroots effort to limit large-scale retail development in Damariscotta.
“I’m running to protect what makes this place special while ensuring every family has access to affordable health care, housing, and childcare,” Mayher said.
The event will include seasonally-appropriate refreshments (pie for pi day on 3.14) and a table where people can paint their own signs. More information about Mayher, the campaign, and the event on March 14 is available at www.jennymayher.com.

Wednesday, Nov. 3, was a particularly important day at Lincoln County Publishing Co.
No, it wasn’t because we successfully published our 5,361st consecutive edition of The Lincoln County News. Rather, it was because we printed the first edition of The Eagle’s Talon in over a decade.

Jenny Mayher can still remember how she felt standing in the upstairs room of the Damariscotta River Grill on March 21, 2006.
She, along with Eleanor Kinney and other members of the grass-roots organization Our Town Damariscotta, were awaiting the results on a referendum vote for a proposed 35,000-square-foot retail size cap.
If the vote passed, Wal-Mart’s plan to build a 186,800-square-foot supercenter on Route 1 would no longer be possible.
